Free AI Pre-Check

It is a free, independent pre-check that reviews your draft for writing patterns associated with AI-generated text. It gives you an estimated AI indicator and risk level before you submit your paper to Turnitin or another academic system.

The result comes from our independently developed model. It is not an official Turnitin result or report.

The model reviews patterns such as predictability, sentence rhythm, transition use, syntactic repetition, and vocabulary variation. It combines those signals into an estimated AI indicator and risk level.

These patterns can also appear in human writing, so the result should be used to decide what deserves review—not to determine authorship.

No. Turnitin AI Detector is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of Turnitin, LLC.

The service is designed for private preparation before submission and does not access Turnitin’s systems or provide an official Turnitin AI Writing Report. For a more detailed pre-submission reference, continue toT-checker. Its report includes sentence-level findings, matched sources, and downloadable AI-detection and similarity results that can help you prepare for the kinds of signals reviewed in a Turnitin workflow.

Enter at least 320 words so the model has enough writing patterns to review. You can check up to 30,000 words, although a focused section or complete paper with consistent prose usually produces a more useful result than fragments, bullet points, tables, or references alone.

No sign-up is required for the free pre-check. You can paste your text or upload a supported file, including a Word or PDF document.

For the clearest analysis, use a file with selectable prose text rather than scanned pages, images, tables, or code.

Most free pre-checks finish within one to a few minutes. Processing time varies with document length, file format, and current demand, so longer files may take more time.

Results and Detailed Reports

The free result shows an estimated AI indicator and risk level. It is useful for spotting an unexpected signal before submitting your paper to Turnitin and deciding whether the draft needs a closer review.

The free pre-check does not include sentence-level findings, matched sources, or a downloadable detailed report.

Not necessarily. AI detectors use different models, text constraints, qualifying-text rules, and scoring thresholds. Even small edits or model updates can change a result.

Use the pre-check as an early review signal before submitting to Turnitin. If you need more context,T-checkerprovides sentence-level findings, matched sources, and a downloadable detailed report.

Each detector weighs writing patterns differently and may analyze a different portion of the document. File processing, minimum-length rules, language support, and model updates can also affect the outcome.

Compare the passages and evidence behind a result when available instead of focusing only on headline percentages.

The free pre-check gives you a fast estimate. The detailedT-checkerservice adds sentence-level findings, matched sources, and a downloadable report so you can review the passages behind AI-writing and similarity signals.

T-checkeris also an independent service and does not provide an official Turnitin report.

Consider a detailed check when the free result is higher than expected, your paper is close to submission, you need to locate the sentences behind an AI signal, or you want to review similarity matches and their sources.

Accuracy, Privacy, and Responsible Use

Turnitin states that its AI Writing Report is designed to identify qualifying text that may be AI-generated and, for supported English submissions, text that may have been modified with an AI paraphraser or bypasser.

Detection is probabilistic. Human-written, AI-generated, and AI-paraphrased text can be misidentified, so results require human review.

No. An AI indicator cannot prove authorship. It identifies statistical patterns in the writing, not the identity, intent, or writing process of the author.

Review any result alongside drafts, notes, citations, version history, assignment requirements, and your institution’s AI policy.

Do not rewrite the entire paper based on one percentage. Review the passages that seem unusually repetitive, predictable, or uniform, then check whether the ideas, citations, and wording accurately reflect your work.

Keep your outlines, research notes, drafts, and version history. They provide useful context if an instructor asks about how the paper was developed.

Turnitin uses “qualifying text” for prose sentences in long-form writing, such as essays, articles, dissertations, and reports. Non-prose content—including bullet points, tables, poetry, scripts, code, and annotated bibliographies—may not be evaluated reliably.

That is why a detector’s percentage may refer only to part of a document rather than every word in the file.

No. Your paper is not submitted to Turnitin or an institutional repository, so using this pre-check does not create a stored submission that could later match your paper at 100%.

A high similarity score in another system can still occur for other reasons, including previous institutional submissions, quoted material, references, or text that matches published sources.

Uploaded content is not submitted to a repository, is deleted within 24 hours, is not used to train the model, and is not shared with third-party service providers.

See thePrivacy Policyfor the complete explanation of file handling and data practices.

Turnitin officially offers Turnitin Similarity. It does not offer an official product called “Turnitin Plagiarism Checker.” Turnitin also states that similarity alone cannot determine whether plagiarism has occurred.

A similarity score shows how much text matches other sources. Quotations, references, standard phrases, and properly cited material can all create matches, so the evidence must be reviewed in context.
